The Department of Coordinated Production is a boutique design studio specializing in the opportunities that adaptive reuse provides for new hospitality and residential spaces. The authenticity of existing buildings can be harvested for urban infill, reimagining existing facilities and leveraging historic assets as part of a brand new design.

Planning & Feasibility

Assessing and documenting existing assets can be an important place to start with knowing as much as possible about what is already there. We can survey existing spaces to create base documentation. Our consultant teams can provide reviews of existing equipment, infrastructure and structural components. Combined with code and zoning review, the result can be a package that helps make educated decisions and chart a new course for the property.

OLD SPACES INTO QUALITY HOMES

We are surrounded by existing building stock that is filled with elegance, refinement and craft. In many cases, the beauty of existing spaces can be locked into configurations that do not meet the needs of living today. We help you work through what to keep and restore, what to subtract and remove, what to add to compliment the existing canvas. Leveraging the value of pieces that are already here can help make the finished product even better than building from scratch.

ADAPTIVE REUSE & RENOVATION

Just because a building was built for one purpose does not mean that it cannot be leveraged into an entirely new use for its next life. Buildings constructed for outmoded tasks can step into new roles as fresh ways to house modern activities. Through programming, test fits and concept workshops we can help think through the possibilities that add value to an existing property.

Construction Observation & Project Management

Our goal on every project is to be with a client from the very beginning to the very end of construction. We can adjust our level of management and oversight to the needs of the client team, but our preference is to be involved with the construction process and represent the client to the rest of the project team.
