After working with Hudson Table for their space in Williamsburg, a new space on the other side of the Hudson River marked not only a chance to refine knowledge for systems and functionality, but mark the start of new plans for expansion and rollout that demanded the solidification of a brand image for the company. This allowed us to take the best parts of our previous project and help the design elements evolve into a language that would be identified with Hudson Table for the foreseeable future through new locations.

The design of the space began with some familiar pieces: cooking and eating counters, recessed millwork storage, and of course some kitchen sinks. The HVAC realities of coordinating kitchen exhaust, make-up air and tempered air distribution were no less real yet this time there was a road map for how to tie it all together within a well-crafted soffit. The realities of structure and dimensions allows us to push and pull to accommodate new pantries and kitchen islands with the hopes of only making it easier for Hudson Table to do its thing.

From there, the new feel of what the Hudson Table experience could be took shape. The touches of white oak from Williamsburg become a unifying material that gave way to elements of built-in millwork storage or celebrations of lighting points. Though not the easiest to construct, the continuous detail of a double chair rail could morph from one element to the next in order to be the string that tied the interior finishes together. The result was a space that is elevated for the quality of the food produced, but relaxed enough for guests to come without any expectation. We look forward to the iterations to come!
